BossRelyWhat gives you a raise?!
Low efficiency, not proactive, unable to take on too much responsibility, always feeling that you are working hard but not seeing others' efforts, thinking about all the pleasures after work, will the boss give such an employee a raise?
American psychologist Adams once proposed a "fairness theory": a person's work motivation is influenced not only by their absolute rewards (i.e., actual income) but also by relative rewards (i.e., relative income compared to others). Moreover, people consciously or unconsciously compare their own labor with the rewards they receive against others, and if they feel it is unreasonable, they will feel a sense of unfairness, leading to psychological imbalance.
Many people have this mentality: why am I working so hard, but the boss just won't give me a raise? Why do I do more than others but get less than them? This is so unfair!
It seems that the amount of salary is entirely manipulated by the boss, but that's not the case. Our income is entirely determined by ourselves. If there is no raise, the problem may lie here:
1、Clarify whether your efforts are effective?
Understand whether your overtime means inefficiency,In the same job, if others take two hours and you take eight hours, it seems you are working hard, but it also indicates that your ability is not up to par.!
You are not thorough enough in your work, frequently making mistakes, unable to identify problems yourself, always needing your superiors or colleagues to clean up after you. Is your effort still valuable if it requires others to worry about it?
2、No plans, not proactive, not thinking, not innovative, on what basis do you ask for a raise?
You have no plan for your work, and even if you have a plan, you do not execute it thoroughly. After execution, you do not provide feedback, and when you do, you do not summarize. If you summarize, you still make the same mistakes next time.
You are not proactive enough in your work, unable to stand on your own, always needing others to plan and give instructions, always needing others to urge you to do things.
You lack ideas, have no innovation, are unwilling to learn, and do not want to think, always waiting for others to teach you.
Simply completing assigned tasks does not earn you a raise. Because your boss cannot always watch you work, but if you only complete mechanical instructions without creating more value, on what basis do you ask for a raise?
3、You have not taken on enough responsibility.
You lack accountability, like to shrink back when problems arise, are unwilling to take responsibility, and are used to passing the buck to others, always seeking help from others; then naturally, it will be others who get the raise, as the boss will not give a salary to someone who shirks responsibility.
4、Are you important enough to the company?
Some people overestimate their performance and value in the company, thinking that the company cannot operate normally without them. In fact, the company can operate normally without anyone.
For the boss, a raise means "your work is now more valuable to us." So, you need to ensure that the work you do is very important to the company.
5、Your perspective is too small; how can you accommodate more?Salary?
Your perspective is too small,You can only see your own efforts and not the hard work of others. So you always like to compare, always focusing on your strengths and others' weaknesses, always comparing salaries with others, always attributing achievements to yourself without considering others' contributions.
Your perspective is too narrow, limited to the work in front of you every day, spinning in your small circle, counting your own small gains, unaware of the work status of the upper and lower processes, never thinking about how the entire department, the entire company, and the industry operate, and how to improve in the future.
It is often said that a person's perspective determines a person's destiny. A person's development is often limited; in fact, "limitation" is just a small perspective that restricts them. When a person's perspective is broadened, the future path can be wider! A big perspective means approaching life from a broader viewpoint, striving to stand higher, see further, and achieve greater things! This should be the case in the workplace; with a broader perspective,Salarynaturally, there will be more!
6、You are too hedonistic, forgetting that you cannot have both fish and bear's paw.
You are too greedy, always thinking you can have an easy life without hard work, thinking about a comfortable lifestyle, binge-watching shows, traveling, dating, busy with family chores, yet unwilling to make sacrifices, wanting everything, and as a result, nothing goes smoothly.
Everything requires effort to yield returns; if you want to obtain high rewards, you naturally need to put in corresponding efforts.。
I believe that if you work with ideas, are organized, innovative, proactive, effective, have few mistakes, can stand on your own, are career-minded, willing to put in effort, have a broad perspective, strictly demand of yourself, and can also think about the development of other business areas or the overall development of the company, then getting a raise and promotion will be a piece of cake.
